Makita 9557PB Design and Features
The first thing I noticed when I picked the grinder up was how light it was. It weighs around 4.5 pounds which are quite less compared to the competition.
The next prominent thing which I loved was the grip. It made working with the tool quite comfortable especially during long sessions of work. It also has an extra-large paddle switch to make sure the operation runs smoothly.
When it comes to safety, the Makita 9557PB has some sleek features which are a live saver. It is quite safe to use.
The Labyrinth construction helps to protect the motor and the bearings by sealing it. It is also equipped with a protective zigzag varnish similar to dust ejection system in DeWalt products to protect the machine from particles and debris.
The aluminum casing ensures that the tool lasts you long. You should not be in a position of changing the tool every year.
Power – 7.5 Amps Motor
Speed – 11,000 RPM
Dimensions – 5.8 x 15 x 10 inches
Voltage – 120 V
You don’t want an angle grinder that stops working in the middle of a long task. During my usage, the Makita 9557PB performed quite well.
The tool packs in a 7.5 Amp Motor which is capable of up to 11,000 RPM. The motor is quite powerful as well as efficient. The motor generates sufficient speed and torque to breeze away through light to medium work.
It also has dual power option (AC/DC), so you can use the tool in place possible. This feature is not in a lot of other angle grinders we have tested on this blog.
The included disks in the package are way better than the Freight disks. The disks provided can handle both mild and stainless steel.
Overall the machine is of great value and works great. It has been another great addition to my toolbox and wishes I had it sooner, I might buy another one. It’s a great tool for an industry leader in machine manufacturing.
Regardless how professional you are I recommend both gloves and safety glasses for extra protection.
The case it comes with is surprisingly sturdy and useful too.
Over 440 people reviewed the Makita 9557PB on Amazon. It has an overall rating of 4.7 out of 5. I can’t recall another angle grinder such high ratings.
This definitely means that people are loving this product. Let us see what a buyer had to say about Makita 9557PB.
He says –
This thing is HEAVY. I work on go kart frames and it holds up O.K. for the light work that I have to do with it, but I would definitely get something lighter if you plan on using a grinder for a majority of your work.
The duty cycle is pretty low too, the thing starts to heat up after about 10-15 minutes of real work. You really gotta baby this thing and not overwork it – but considering how heavy it is I wouldn’t want to be working for long amounts of time with it – really hard on the wrists after a while.
There is a standard one year warranty on the device. This can be a drawback as most companies are offering 3 years of protection.
You also get a 30 days money back guarantee if you are not satisfied with the product.
Easy to operate
Both AC/DC support
Price might be a factor
No variable speed
The Makita 9557PB is overall a great angle grinder within a compact body. I loved using the machine.
Though it doesn’t have variable speed, the speed is more than enough for most tasks. The compact design means you need not worry about space. The case is also a handy thing which comes to the product. ( Only with Makita 9557PBX1)
It is has a wonderful rating of 4.7 on Amazon which speaks a lot for the device. Makita as a brand can be trusted, and you need not worry about the longevity of the product. If you are satisfied with the features, I see no reasons not to buy the tool.
You can also check similar models from Hitachi and DeWalt.
